Closure of the Government’s “econsultation” Website - The Government’s “econsultation” website, whereby planning applications and the information relating to them may be accessed on-line , has been closed down from the 30th of November 2010. We understand that this follows an instruction from Whitehall. This means that community organisations and the public in general can no longer obtain early notification of possible developments in their area, and are reliant upon notices in the local press (often up to two weeks late) or information passed on by the good grace of their local council. Viewing of plans or proposals must then take place using paper copies in the offices of the council, instead of on-line. O2 Phone Mast on Broadway - Ponteland Civic Society has submitted objections to both applicationsto erect a phone mast in Broadway, Ponteland. Click Here to read our letter. Following a campaign by another group and a well attended silent protest on Friday 26th February 2010, Telefonica O2 promised to seek a mast site outside the residential area. They did not rule out the possibility of a further application within the residential area, or an appeal against the second site on Broadway, if they failed to identify a suitable alternative site. Northumberland County Council has since obtained an order limiting the right of mobile phone companies to obtain approval for masts within a specified area of Darras Hall including Broadway.
